At the NARVRE convention this year it was noted that Area 4 has the greatest number of units and the most members.. I wish us to go one better that we become the most informed units within this organization. Please pass on these comments at your next meeting to those who do not possess a computer or do not have internet access.
 
I receive on a frequent basis, important information from our National officers and our Area 4 legistlative Repr, Glen Nelson in Duluth. All of this information needs to be passed on to all our members to keep us aware of what is going on in both houses of Congress.. Our strength is in the knowledge that some members of the Congressional body are considering that could result in losing our Railroad Retirement pensions.. This will create a pipeline thruout our organization alerting the membership and make them more aware of what power we have in making Congress respect our interests..

When we receive the email information from Area 4 units, we will create an email contact list for all of you. I may suggest that each and every unit also create a list within your respective membership  who possess an email address to share this information.
 
In the past, some persons objected to NARVRE members passing on information to non-members. I don't agree with this philosopy.. Being someone who has this knowledge makes other retired persons realize this is an organization that they should be part of. Some will be looking for a free ride but you can make that decision. Don't be afraid to show them an occasional NARVRE newsletter.. Let's do all we can do to create more members.. We need them more than ever before if we wish to express our voice to the members of Congress.
 
I realize this is not going to be accomplished overnight, but let us get started to show what we stand for in the next elections.. Remember; knowledge is power..
