Area 4's Director once had a teacher who once said. "Better late than never, but better never late".. So here is my first attempt at an article for Area 4.
I just finished reading all the articles from our other officers and Directors and alot of infomation was given. I can only report that I have attended a RRB informational meeting in Kansas City with NVP George Wisdom, NST Rich Duley, and had the pleasure of seeing area 6 Director Roger Barr also at the meeting. George and I attended Unit 42's meeting and picnic in Sedalia, Mo and Unit 77 meeting and picnic in Decatur, Il. Have had the pleasure of making friends with so many wonderful persons from the convention in LaCrosse, WI and Units within out jurisdiction. I just hope I can justify my position by being a good Director and follow in Ruth Elyea's footsteps. What a great lady. On a new note, I have contacted former Assistant Directors for Iowa and Wisconsin, Lester Newton of Unit 106 in Oelwein, Ia and Paul Meyer of Unit 47 which is the man responsible for the great time we all had at the 2010 convention in LaCrosse, WI. both of these gentlemen have agreed to stay on as Assistant Directors for this term of office... Mr R.C. Smith, President of Unit 77 in Decatur has agreed to assume the position of Assistant Director for Illinois... I am waiting for a recommendation for an Assistant to service the state of Minnesota and that should complete our areas position.. Glen Nelson will continue to serve as Area 4's Legistlative Representive. Our National Vice President, George Wisdom and I not wanting to get rusty. will be doing the recruiting and hopefully organize new units in Missouri.. National Secretary Treasurer, Rich Duley is anxiously awaiting the completion of his move of our National Office to Moberly which is 50 miles from Marceline where I live.. Both George and I are committed to help Rich complete the move in a minimal amount of time and get back into RUN 8. There will be alot of putting everything into each cubbyhole and get caught up on correspondence and paperwork.. I'm sure by now you all have been able to read the correspondence from all our other Officers and I found it to be most informative... Thats it for now... Sleep warm and stay safe.. Roy |
